Valery Paquier, Project Director at BESIX Middle East: “BESIX is incredibly proud to deliver Dubai’s newest landmark. The project sets new precedents in the industry not just in terms of its scale and complexity but also in its design and engineering. I would like to thank our client and all stakeholders for their trust in BESIX Group.”
The project was extremely demanding from start to finish, but BESIX and its partners executed it with brilliance, which is reflected in the stunning quality of the building. Great care was taken to ensure that every aspect of the construction was thoroughly considered and attended to, both within the building and on its exterior. Numerous departments within BESIX showcased their expertise, including the operational teams, the technical office, procurement and certainly the quality control teams.
A major milestone in the project was the lifting of the 1,260 tons, 45-metre sky bridge by strand jacking. This was an extremely precise operation. The sky bridge was first constructed on the roof of the main lobby, and then gradually raised to its final height of 93.5 meters. It then took another month to securely attach it to the existing structure and complete all necessary connections.
Valery Paquier, Project Director at BESIX Middle East: “Thank you to our teams for their hard work and unwavering dedication that has resulted in this stunning development. Cherry on the cake: one of the great successes of the project is safety. The construction site has not experienced any lost time incidents, which represents over 100 million safe working hours!”
The new Atlantis The Royal is located near the original Atlantis hotel, Atlantis The Palm, forming the ultimate entertainment destination. The two hotels boast a total of two kilometres of beachfront, making it the largest uninterrupted stretch of privately-owned beachfront in Dubai.
The Atlantis The Royal was officially inaugurated in January 2023 with a major celebration featuring a performance by pop star Beyoncé. Atlantis The Royal has opened to the public on February 10, 2023.
